⁂ TRINITY ARCHWAY

Outdoor Installation for the National Evangelical Presbyterian Chruch in Rabiya, LEBANON

SEPTEMBER 2020

Multipurpose Church Yard Structure.

The design celebrates the holy trinity with triangular geometry. The 8x2.5m construction echoes the colonnade of the church entrance. The structural beam elements draw their geometry from the pointed arches and spring upwards, spanning over the church yard across to the facing building; headquarters of the Church of Syria & Lebanon Synod.

The structure offers shade and rain cover over the terrace where the congregation mingles after the Sunday church services, and for weddings and other religious proceedings that regularly take place here. Integrated into the elements and detailing are the musharabiya shading panels, lighting features for after sundown, and concealed gutters for draining rainwater. The archway can also be decorated and customised to suit the holidays and special occasions.
